At NAAHR, our mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for all permanent or temporary animals that come through our doors. We are proud to say that we are 100% no-kill, which includes behavioral cases. We believe that every animal is perfect in the right home or sanctuary.

Currently, we schedule dog adoptions by appointment. All of our adoptable dogs are on our Petfinder account. We have fosters all over California, so dogs are posted for adoption where the foster homes are. We rescue from the euthanasia lists at high kill shelters and neglect cases off the streets.

We no longer perform adoptions with domestic cats. We are dealing with TNR(Trap, Neuter, Release) and feral cat colonies these days. We believe it’s important to start at the source. We house permanent farm animals, feral cats that aren‘t doing well being feral or may have ongoing health issues, and dogs that are unadoptable due to behavioral or medical issues.

We are not currently taking any cat or dog surrenders unless the animal was originally adopted from this animal rescue center. We want animals to be surrendered back to this rescue if they were previously adopted from us, and adopters can no longer adhere to their adoption contracts.  Farm animal surrenders are case by case, please contact us if you’re trying to surrender a farm animal. 

Noah’s Ark is a small, volunteer-based animal rescue center powered by a dedicated group of board members, volunteers, and rescue staff. While we operate primarily through the generous support of our community, we also offer paid transport and complete medical services for animals being transferred to partner rescues.

Our work is made possible thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, staff, and donors. Additionally, each week we host 1–5 individuals completing community service hours through Shasta County, who contribute meaningfully to our daily operations and animal care.
